Eliot-Righele and Munro Occupational Therapists Inc. is an independently owned and run practice with a special interest in the rehabilitation of hand and arm injuries.

HAND THERAPY CAN HELP:
We use a variety of therapy techniques and tools to assist in the rehabilitation process. Many of these are issued for home use as part of the rehab programme. We stock theraputty, theraband, mini massagers, heat packs and silicone scar reduction products, splints and pressure garments.

For many conditions we can assess and treat you without a doctor’s referral. These may include: Arthritis, tendonitis, sprains, strains and dislocations.
However, we work very closely with reputable hand/upper limb surgeons and will always treat you in conjunction with the referring surgeon or refer you for a surgeons' opinion should there be any concern or doubt about your diagnosis or progress.

Background: Sancha has been working in the field of Upper Limb Rehabilitation since 2000. She started her career in the government sector where she gained valuable experience. Part of her development has included the role of treasurer on the Gauteng branch of SASHT and later as the president of National Executive Committee of SASHT. She has a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy (dissertation on the prevalence of upper extremity RSI in computer users and the effect of an education based ergonomic intervention programme).

Background: Lucinda has been working in the field of Upper Limb Rehabilitation since 2004. Her career started in the government sector where she gained experience in hand therapy. Lucinda took part in an American Fellowship programme in Philadelphia under the Philadelphia Hand Centre, where she worked and studied under very experienced hand therapists and surgeons. This experience has stood her steadfast in the world of hand therapy and given her valuable experience. Lucinda then worked in the National Health System in the UK for two years. Through this she gained great insight into the international field of Upper Limb Therapy protocols and processes.

Background: Bianca comes to us after spending 6 years at Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital where she developed 2 distinct areas of interest: hand therapy (arthritis and acute trauma) and paediatric neurological rehabilitation (NDT). She has extensive experience in the field of arthritis and assisted in implementing and running many of the arthritis clinics at Baragwanath. She gained invaluable experience working with a myriad of diagnoses in a multi disciplinary team. As a member of SARAA (South African Rheumatism and Arthritis Association) and SAHPR (South African Health Professionals for Rheumatology) - as previous chairperson - we are sure she will add invaluable knowledge and insight into our arthritis patient management. To develop her second area of interest Bianca achieved basic and advanced NDT certification, ran the transdisciplinary neurological rehabilitation clinics, as well as intervention groups for children with Hydrocephalus and children with Down Sydrome.
